Eiffage Métal is diversifying its industrial activities by focusing on the marine renewable energy market and, in particular, on floating and installed offshore wind turbines. We are also a general contractor for the construction of offshore oil and gas platforms and gas transport and storage facilities.
For all our projects, we rely on the know-how and experience of our Belgian subsidiary Smulders - the market leader in metal components for offshore wind turbines - and our Spanish subsidiary Eiffage Métal Iberica - one of Europe's leading manufacturers of onshore wind turbine towers.
We control the entire chain, from design to manufacturing (Lauterbourg factory, Newcastle yard, Hoboken factory, etc.), from transport to installation, right up to commissioning. Structure, electricity, automation, mechanics, air conditioning, instrumentation, telecoms, our know-how is complete.
Offshore installed and floating wind turbines
Eiffage Métal offers services from simple steel component manufacturing for offshore fields to turnkey contracts covering the design, manufacturing and installation of complex sub-assemblies. Eiffage Métal leads the installed wind turbine market, and is also an industrial partner (together with Principle Power and GE) in the Gulf of Lion floating wind turbine pilot farm led by the ENGIE, EDP Renewables and Caisse des Dépôts consortium and winner of French public Environment and Energy Management Agency ADEME’s call for projects in the floating wind turbine sector. The floating wind turbine is a future-oriented technology which can be installed in very windy areas, far from the coast and in extremely deep waters.

The company is an industrial partner (together with Principle Power and GE) in the Gulf of Lion floating wind turbine pilot farm led by the ENGIE, EDP Renewables and Caisse des Dépôts consortium and winner of French public Environment and Energy Management Agency ADEME’s call for projects in the floating wind turbine sector. We were also chosen by SBM Offshore to build three floats for the Provence Grand Large offshore floating wind turbine pilot farm (project driven by EDF EN).
Onshore / offshore Oil & Gas projects
Eiffage Métal has signed over 200 EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning) contracts in the offshore construction sector for the oil and gas service and supply industry since 1975, including local production (local content) like the Ofon project in Nigeria.
Our landmark achievements include jackets, living quarters, wellheads, exploration, drilling and production platforms, technical modules, skids, gas compressor stations, LPG containers and underwater equipment (rigid and flexible pipelines).

In August 2019, we also won a contract in consortium to design, manufacture and install 80 steel monopile foundations for the first French offshore wind farm – a project totalling over 500 million euros. The future 480 MW wind farm belongs to EDF Renewables and Enbridge, and will be located between 12 and 20 kilometres off the coast of the Guérande peninsula.
