In Saint-Denis (93), the Pont des Cathédrales Replaces a Century-Old Bridge
During exceptional track closures, the teams of the consortium installed, using a launching method, a structure named the Pont des Cathédrales, due to the proximity of former railway halls, currently being revitalized by the Eiffage Aménagement teams.
The operation consists of replacing a puddled iron structure dating from 1894 with a Warren-type railway crossing, manufactured at the Eiffage Métal plant in Lauterbourg (67).
This new railway structure features a deck 16.5 meters high, a 1,800-ton framework, and a record-breaking 145-meter span, the longest in Europe for this type of structure.
The works are part of SNCF Réseau’s maintenance policy for its engineering structures, made essential here to ensure the reliability of traffic on the RER B and D lines, H and K lines, and the Paris-Laon and Paris-Beauvais TER lines.
A construction site at the intersection of regeneration and modernization on a strategic structure of Europe’s busiest railway axis, with over 1,400 trains and 1.6 million passengers per day.
Its commissioning is scheduled for August 2025!
Congratulations to the teams for this major milestone!
